Day 17 - Happy 20th Birthday Jonny!

So today we were woken up crazily early by Rahel and Marian singing happy birthday to Jonny! Jonny then opened his cards on his bed and we all had some breakfast together. Today is Timkat is Ethiopia, a religious ceremony celebrating the baptism of Jesus. We went into town around 10 this morning, where we came across thousands of people all gathered for the celebration. It was such an amazing atmosphere! In the crowd, we were literally some of the only white people, but the locals really tried to include us and got us dancing and clapping which was fun! The celebrations went on for miles throughout town. We then had some lunch, then came to Homland to Skype home for Jonny's birthday :) After some more games of cards, we walked to Desset Lodge again, where we saw the sunset again and had some dinner. We have sooo many amazing photo's from today, but we are going to upload them tomorrow as we need an early night! Tomorrow we are getting a bajaj to Lake Shore, then getting a boat across Lake Tana, then visiting some of the monastries located on Islands around the Lake. So we are super excited! but dreading leaving the house at 6.30am! :( We will have loads of photo's to post for you all tomorrow! :) Hope the snow isn't too bad! We only have 7 days left now in Bahir Dar, then 3 in Addis, then home, so the countdown to home time is really beginning now! :) xxx
